Summer activities right around the corner
Hiking or mountain biking on one of the trails, fishing, flight seeing, river trips, photography, bird watching…
Businesses in the town of Talkeetna offer scenic flights into the Alaska Range (with the possibility of a glacier landing), guided fishing excursions, scenic riverboat tours, rafting/floating trips, or sled dog rides (even in the summertime!). Several gift shops sell Alaskan art, and galleries are filled with impressive photography and paintings by talented local artists. Visit the museum to learn about Talkeetna’s history, and later try one of the micro brew beers in the pub. Oh, and definitely turn on the radio to listen to our local station KTNA 88.9 FM.
Winter activities right around the corner
Snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on the frozen ponds and meadows, long walks on quiet roads and trails, observe the Northern Lights from the cabin windows…
Take a course at Alaska Folk School, enjoy a play featured by our local talents of Denali Drama (the “Lodging Key” can get you a discount), or visit an art exhibition in the Sheldon Community Arts Hanger, listen to live music being played indoors at local eateries and pubs, catch a slideshow, visit Winterfest activities like the Wilderness Women Contest and Bachelor Auction & Ball, build a snow sculpture (maybe a Bunny at Easter, as we usually do)… winter is a beautiful time to visit.
